Military radar detected plane over Malacca Straits

PETALING JAYA (Mar 11): The search for MH370 has now intensified in four blocks in the Straits of Malacca, far from where authorities believe the plane disappeared – following military input that it may have tracked the missing jetliner by radar over the Straits.
Quoting a source, Reuters said the plane may be found in an unexpected area.
“It changed course after Kota Bharu and took a lower altitude. It made it into the Malacca Strait,” Reuters quoted the military official.
This new revelation seems to support eyewitness accounts in Kelantan and Terengganu of what seemed like a low-flying aircraft.
The Straits of Malacca, however is the world’s busiest straits hence it seems impossible that a Boeing 777-200 could have crashed into the sea without being detected.
Armed Forces Chief Tan Sri Rodzali Daud seemed to agree.
“The last time the plane was detected was near Pulau Perak, in the Straits of Malacca, at 2.40am," Berita Harian quoted him as saying.
Military radar noted that the plane was flying about 1,000 metres lower than its original altitude of 10,000 metres after the turnaround.
Whether this gives hope to recover the plane and its 239 passengers  or if this is yet another wild goose chase remains to be seen.
